Is it your first time managing social media for a business? Don’t worry. Learn how Denisse did it. Despite having more than ten years as the sole broker of a real estate business, she suddenly found herself faced with the new digital reality. With fear, uncertainty and a huge challenge ahead, she began to use Social Piper as a guide and companion in this new stage for her business.
Why did you approach Social Piper?
I’ve been a real estate broker for more than ten years and I had never seen the need to use a social network until 2020 when the pandemic broke out. The only thing I used to handle was Facebook, and in a personal way. But there, on my personal Facebook is where I published my properties, right between the photos of my family, friends and social gatherings. Deep down I knew only my friends were looking at the posts. I was confident that with their help I could find my potential clients. My thing has always been the recommendation.
When the pandemic broke, my reality changed completely. They sent us all to our homes. I lost the ability to show the households around and that’s when Social Piper came to me as a fortune teller. I dared to reinvent my communication mechanisms and especially the way I show the departments. I approached Social Piper with a lot of fear of causing problems, due to my little experience with digital, but soon I began to imagine more opportunities, to communicate with the Social Piper team and propose features for the platform.
Which benefits have you found through Social Piper?
One of the first and most positive changes was discovering that I did not need to mix my self image with my business. Having specific networks allowed me to give an image and a discourse to my work detached from who I am. I got my privacy back.
On the other hand, I don’t want to fall into the game of being permanently glued to the mobile checking each of the social networks. I find it exhausting. Through Social Piper I can generate my posts and Social Piper publishes them at the best time for me on each of my social networks. Also with the app, I can review all the comments, no matter what social network they come from. So I don’t fall into the game of logging into Facebook to reply to a message and spending hours browsing there.
Because I also understand that the bigger the audience, the more chances I have of achieving my goal. The truth is that I have had to test my advertising campaigns with different networks and target audiences. With each reaction and comment that I receive from my community manager, it is easier for me to focus on who my potential customers really are and how they want to interact with me.
For example, I have found that my target audience on Facebook is older than that of Instagram, so now I adjust my speech for each of these networks. I always try to keep up with the terms so I don’t get outdated. I try to talk with my son about the different platforms and how people are talking on the internet.
You tell us that you use Social Piper a lot to keep track of your community. Is it the main use you give to the platform?
Do you remember the Pinocchio Disney movie? There was this friendly little character who existed for the sole purpose of being an advisor to the protagonist. For me, Social Piper is my Jiminy Cricket. It makes me feel like there is someone out other than myself who is not only helping me with their advice on social media, but also supporting me, pushing me and sometimes even giving me a good shake to focus on my business. The sadness of having a low Piper Score is something serious. Plus, Piper has something Jiminy Cricket never had. Knowledge of the algorithms behind.
I don’t need to know how data analytics works, and I honestly appreciate not having to spend time on it. Having clarity on when and where to post makes it easier for me to perform any targeted audience experiment. In the long run, I would like to know more about these analytics but right now the application is my priority. I can be guided by Piper.
